Yet another motorcycling accident has occured in Paphos. A 28 year old British citizen died when his motorbike ran into a wall. This year has seen many biking accidents and deaths island wide. It has also been reported that a mid aged Polish man was involved in an accident and is currently in hospital in Pathos.

The minister for Health and safety in Cyprus (Education Dept) Mr Charalambos Constandinou reported that closing down of Cyprus schools would be highly unlikely in the event of a H1N1 outbreak. Documented  proceedures have been passed onto all schools in how to deal with the possible scenarios including hygenic measures.

There has been a high spate of Motorcyling accidents and deaths this month the latest comming in Ayia Napa A 25 year old man died in hospital after the accident. Police reported after an initial incident the motorcycle veered into an oncoming vehicle and onwards into a parked taxi. Earlier on the 12 and 13th of August two more motorcyclists died as reported in the Cyprus Property for Sale news articles published prior.

Fuel prices have risen sharply this week. Diesel and petrol have risen 3.4% this week and 16% over the last three months. There is a body called the Commision for the Protection of Competition in Cyprus and they have produced a report targeting the four fuel suppliers and if price fixes have occured illegally or legally. A fine could be imposed upon the fuel companies in due course.

Ban Ki-moon has recently commented upon the Cyprus problem saying that more has been done in  the past months than in the previous thirty years. This is predominantly due to the frequency of meetings between the two sides of divided Cyprus. The united nations secretary general is hoping that concultations and resolutions will come soon

On the 35th anniversary of the Turkish invasion a resolution was submitted to the British High Commission by the organisations and municipalities of the Kyrenia areas. The United States supports any ongoing talks between the two parties of the divided island of Cyprus saying that this is crucial to a resolution.
