Cyprus Tourism

 This year is going to be one of the most difficult ever for Cyprus tourism says Cypriot Premier Mr Demetris Christofias . The president recently met with the Cyprus hoteliers association and discussed the 10 % drop in visitors so far this year. Warning of overcharging practices. He called for the Tourist sector overall to “upgrade” the holiday packages and therefore become more competitive and also talked about the local populous spending part of their holiday time in Cyprus this year. 

Katie Price and Peter Andre

Peter Andre has been staying in Cyprus with relatives after his much publisised marriage break up  with Katie Price. He however reprted to Sky that he misses his childeren and has therefore left Cyprus and is now back in the United Kingdom. His marriage has lasted over three years and the couple have meetings planned together in due course.

Yesterdays meeting between the two leaders of North and South Cyprus alike was centered around talks about crossing points on the divided island. Today President Chritofias is said to be dissapointed at the submitting of more terms and conditions by the Turkish leader and refered to “Turkish Greed”. He went on to say “I think the Turkish army does not want to open Limnitis….”

China Cyprus Deal

An agreement has been signed between China and Cyprus in the tourism sector. China is having an exhibition in Beijing and Cyprus is to showcase in June. Mr Shao Qiwei the Chinese director of tourism and Antonis Paschalides the Cypriot Tourism Minister signed an agreement designed to increase Chinese visitors to the island and promote tourism between the two countries. Athens Strike

Athens Airport plans a four hour strike today which will affect flights to and from Salonica and Athens on Cyprus Airways and Olympic Airways. Six Cyprus Airways to and from Athens Airport and two more from Salonica will be affected . However Authorities from Cyprus Airways also report that alternative arrangements have been made.

At a meeting organised by the Young Presidents Organisation the finance minister Mr Charilaos Stavrakis stated that Cyprus is set within the Euro Zone to achieve the highest leves of growth. Cyprus has many double taxation treaties and has the lowest level of taxation amongst member states

Cyprus Airways

The national Carrier Cyprus Airways has shelved plans to lease aircraft from an Irish company following a breakdown due to non agreement on delivery dates. Two additional airbus 320′s were planned to be in service for the airline on a lease for six years starting July this year.

Cyprus Orams

The cases of property disputes in the North of Cyprus are well documented and the British High commission stated that it respects the decision of the European Court of Justice in the Orams Case. Mr P Millet speaking on CYBC  ( The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation )said the verdict does not affect the ongoing talks on the Cyprus Problem.
